Utvärdering, avsked och poesi
They came to my village
They came to my village
Carrying bandages, medicines to restore our wounds
Carrying books and knowledge to teach us
Carrying skills and wisdom to equip us
They came to my village
And they saw people, not natives
They looked beyond our race, our skin colour
They looked beyond our language barriers
beyond the status of living
The Swedes came to my village Mbekweni
To teach us about humanity
To remind us about the spirit of Ubuntu
To empower us mentally and physically for a better tomorrow
They started with one, but now we are many
They came to encourage, all for one and one for all
But mostly for me
They have planted a seed that will grow as old as an oak tree
They have touched my blood, reminding me it doesn´t matter what colour you are
If you have a dream, work hard to achieve it
Even the sky is not the limit
The Swedes came to my village Mbekweni, and I am eternally grateful.

Portia reflekterar över besöket i Sverige
My name is Portia Zantsi, I arrived in Sweden on the 15May 2010. And it’s my first time here. And I must say I am enjoying this beautiful country and I am learning so much every day is so different and educational did I mention special…I have never been outside South Africa before and I never thought such existed in the world. I am inspired by everything here in Sweden. The way people live here this strange or should I say new or different in a good way. I have leant on the first week here more about the Swedish history and the way most things are done here. I then leant about dental care and how different that is as compared to where I came from, and made me think of changing my own habits when it comes to taking good care of my teeth and eating health. In South Africa we like eating a lot of Sugar and sweet things that are not so good with teeth and health in general.
We also visited a art exhibition by our good Swedish friend Bonnie, who showed us what she had done with some of the poetry that her mother took to some of the poets in our group she had combined them with art scratches and we were so touched by her creativity and and I saw that nothing is impossible if we can manager to come together and creat such greatness million miles apart…its just amazing this study visit is so usefull and it will help us back at home because we will take what we leant here back with us in South Africa.

Gruppen besöker 035-huset i Halmstad.
ungdomar i Sverige fanns i Mbekweni.
Det skulle göra stor skillnad!
Namhlas reflektioner under Sverigebesöket
My name is Namhla Kalipa from Mbekweni Cape Town in South Africa. I’m part of Mbekweni Youth Service Program (MYSP). Back at home I’m in a poetry group called the Enchanted Souls where we hold poetry sessions every second week on Thursdays. We hold these poetry sessions so that we can bring more youth into the development of Mbekweni and away from crime. There are other events that we try to organize to keep the youth interested in taking part in. We came to Sweden for a study visit to learn skills of how to interest the youth in taking part in the activities we arrange. Our trip has been filled with so much knowledge and wisdom and ideas to take back home. We will be happy to report on the progress we will make after learning a lot of things……………….

Plats: IOGT-lokalen, Torggatan 5, Falkenberg. Alla är varmt välkomna till dessa event.
